| 568194 | 2007-07-12 10:10:00 | I have a new philips 170B monitor and no matter what OS i run just before it gets to the boot screen i get a message every time that says ENTERING SLEEP MODE and then it will keep on working as normal and i can still see my desktop as normal, But no matter what i do with the install disc for the monitor it makes no difference to the message that appears its very very strange. Try, Check Display Prop/Power/Power Schem/Turn of Monitor/ Set for 30 minutes. Tick hibernate. |

Anything beyond this period is not worth repairing. The price we paid for is only that 12 months (usually) usage. Of course, if it lasts longer than the 12 months, we are lucky! So strictly speaking LCD monitors (for example) are not really cheap nowadays if they only last for 12 months. :D | bk T (215) | ||

The expensive models have a zero defect policy, the others use the international 'acceptable number" policy, but all other faults are fully covered |

But I bought this LCD from T&E without any proof of purchase. :( Just found out that TradeTech is the only company who stocks Philips parts and this particular part # is no more available in NZ. Contacted Philips overseas and they referred it back to Philips New Zealand. :badpc: |

I was a Philips Service agent for many years, and alhough I never serviced LCD monitors, I know what their prices were like. I think you are back to buying a new one |

Jeez you give up easy, proof of purchase is irrelevant, just get Philips to check the S/n (pray it wasn't stolen) and if it is under 3 years they'll probably repair/replace it. I bought an 18 month old laptop via T&E with no proof of original purchase and had Toshiba's 3 year warranty applied. It is at least worth trying. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

Checked the serial no. at the back and found that there is a sticker with the model & serial number on it but I could only read the first 2 characters: BN , as rest has been torn, the model no can still be read, however (they are printed on the same sticker). It seems there was another sticker or cellotape ontop of it which has been removed. |
