You only think that because there are other marketeers (few make their own fans) that invent ridiculously low dBA figures. Most "silent" fans are just modified to run slower than the standard one they are based on.

And the rest of you, why bother asking for advice? Sorry, I was asking for advice for better cfm fan and cheaper price, but yeah, SilenX fan looks good but not to my upgrade list now. I mean I can add another fan to my case later, it might be SilenX next time.

568103 2007-07-12 00:24:00 The Evercool Green fans are real quiet, I have replaced all my case fans with those and it made a big difference, the only thing is if you have a case with windows be prepared for Green fans, they don't come in black Pacifier (2821)

Green does not match my Devil case, but red color should suit it, black and red = hell color which is my favorite color. Is there any other evercool fan rather than green. PedalSlammer (8511)
568105 2007-07-12 02:07:00 While SilentX is a good fan to acquire, I use a 12cm Vantec IceBerg, which I bought from Overclockers NZ.

The fan is barely audible running on 12V and does a great job. I don't have any standard fans in my tower and the Vantec is the quietest out of all of them.

Cheers

568107 2007-07-12 04:47:00 You can get other Evercool fans in Black but the Green series make the least noise. Pacifier (2821)

Yes I have Vantec as well as Silentx.

As for them being quiet because they are slower, yes - so?
They're case fans, they don't need to spin like jet turbines.

No, it's not marketing crap. I have 2X 120mm fan that has a noise rating of 34.6dBa. And personally I hated them for the first two weeks. I grew accustomed to the noise after two weeks, though.

568110 2007-07-12 06:02:00 Quiet, high cfm fans are expensive.

look here for a few options

Vantec have a fairly good reputation

An alternative is something like a coolermaster LED fan available from almost anywhere for about $34 in several colours with 42.7 cfm @ 22dB - I find this is enough to keep my case cool and relatively quiet (actually I use 2, 1 front intake for hdd & 1 rear exhaust so 2 x 22dB = 25dB still quiet ).

Although 42 cfm might seem low it's better than most high speed 80cm fans without the noise they make. Also larger fans are less annoying, making a lower pitched sound.

thermaltake also make fans around this price / performance mark.

If you want anything better you'll just have to pay the price
