568184 2007-07-11 12:18:00 This Philips 150P LCD monitor has developed a problem without warning! No display other than a small windows with a message saying something like "signal disconnected alert" it moves around like a screen saver. At first I thought it's the cable, so I swapped a known-to-be good cable from another LCD monitor but doesn't produce any result.

Is it worth sending it for repair, considering the current low prices of LCDs?

568185 2007-07-11 12:33:00 Well, how old is the monitor would help make that decision and how much are you willing to spend on either repairs or purchasing a new one?

BTW, have you tried the monitor on another system?

Have tried that on another PC. It's about 3 years old. How much will be the repair cost, approximately?

568187 2007-07-11 21:26:00 More than its worth! SolMiester (139)
568188 2007-07-11 22:09:00 To get it checked out will usually cost about $40, but as was previously said the repair bill will most likely be more than the monitor is worth or even more than a new one. autechre (266)

Have you checked another Monitor on the computer

It could be a faulty Video card. The message you get is normal when no signal present. If another monitor is fine then I agree with the other comments

568190 2007-07-12 01:40:00 I have a new philips 170B monitor and no matter what OS i run just before it gets to the boot screen i get a message every time that says ENTERING SLEEP MODE and then it will keep on working as normal and i can still see my desktop as normal, But no matter what i do with the install disc for the monitor it makes no difference to the message that appears its very very strange. 568191 2007-07-12 02:31:00 Have done all that .. swapped cable, computer, etc, etc. .. I would confirm that the Monitor is faulty.

Phoned a couple of local repairers and concluded that it is not worth reparing. .. it is going to cost easily >$100

Opened up the plastic cover (it's pretty easy to open) and found that it's rather simple inside: just a main pcb and a few connectors! I'm thinking, I should be able to do the job if I can get hold of the correct pcb.

Question: Where can I buy the appropriate PCB for PHILIPS monitors?

Cheers

568192 2007-07-12 03:26:00 Ring / email them.

Most LCD's (even these) will say no signal when booting, (coz there's nothing on the screen). Then it boots normally.

I wouldnt worry about it.

The message wont be part of the drivers for the monitor. It'll be part of the monitor itself. Thats why u cant fix it.

Made a search and found a company in Auckland who supplies Philips parts but the person in-charge is not available right now.

If I can get the correct PCB, don't see any reason why I can't replace it myself? It's only 4 screws and 2 connectors. Of course, provided it is not too expensive. :D

If I don't try it myself, it's going to end up at the kerbside by next hard rubbish collection, anyway.
