569480 2007-07-17 09:56:00 Could be the hard drive. Umm have you defragged recently??

Do you use ccleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com) ?

If its not installed try installing it (untick the Yahoo toolbar, u dont need this).

Another thing you could try, right mouse on my computer on the desktop / properties / advanced tab. Settings button (1st one - performance) / settings / advanced tab.

Click on change. Put it on no paging file then click on set. Reboot. Then go back to the same place, and select system managed size then set again.

XP will ask u if you want to overwrite it. Click on YES. It'll re-create it.

You may have to reboot again. See if that fixes things. Sometimes a corrupted page file can do strange things.

569483 2007-07-17 11:24:00 Supertrouper gave good advice. Random lockups are often attributed to faulty RAM. Did you try his suggestion? Jen (38)
569484 2007-07-17 11:29:00 The log looks ok to me, but you can run hijackthis again tick these entries then tick fix checked.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NeroCheck] C:\WINDOWS\system32\NeroCheck.exe

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_01\bin\jusched.exe"

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [QuickTime Task] "C:\Program Files\QuickTime\qttask.exe" -atboottime

O4 - Global Startup: Adobe Reader Speed Launch.lnk = C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Reader\reader_sl.exeI've mentioned this several times now before Speedy, but it is helpful if you specifically mention those fixes have nothing to do with spyware or malware but are merely programs that are auto-loading on startup that are not really necessary. Save confusing the poster who thinks their machine must of had spyware etc on it when it never did. Just my opinion. :)

569486 2007-07-18 08:52:00 I am back after cleaning my PC using ccleaner. Surprised to see lot of files left on PC after updating software and uninstalling some of the software. I think my PC is starting to become more stable. So far it froze once today compare to about 5-6 times before. I will see how it goes for the meantime.
Thanks for the help.:)

Random lockups can be caused by lots of things, but perhaps these are at the top of the list:

1. Faulty RAM as suggested.
2. Faulty PSU (power supply unit)
3. Too much heat.

569489 2007-07-18 10:24:00 I didn't think it was the RAM. I had it for over a year with no problem. Can RAM develop a fault over time?
I will have a look inside the case to see if the dust is building up.

Thanks
