| 569600 | 2007-07-17 03:47:00 | Hi Folk, I have a new Toshiba Satellite running Vista Home Premium and I am trying to connect to a FujiXerox Wrokcentre 222 multifunction laser printer via a network which is on a PC running XP SP2. I can see the printer but when Vista tries to install the drivers I get this error message - "Windows cannot connect to the printer. The specified print monitor is unknown" FujuXerox is no help, they say there are no plans for specific Vista drivers for this printer (less than 12 months old) and that the Vista drivers included with the OS should work. Is this a driver problem or perhaps a networking problem, I can share files with the XP system, the only problem is the printer. (I personally doubt the network is the problem as I have tried to install the printer directly to the notebook but with no luck). Any suggestions? Thanks - Peter |

| 569601 | 2007-07-17 04:29:00 | Is the printer connected to the network directly, or is it installed on (plugged into) the XP computer which is sharing it on the network? It looks as if the Vista OS wants a monitor running on its machine, but is can't find one. Can you try to install the Xerox software on the Vista machine, with the printer (and the XP computer) turned off?? |

The PCL driver is so bloated!!!, Some excel spreadsheet which refer to Xerox formating during data import run at 1/3 the speed of HP drivers, which adds up to about 5-10 mins on some accounts...... I am surprised by the stance of Xerox though with regards to drivers for Vista.. That really is a smack in the face to its customers... |

Hi Graham The printer is connected to a PC which is on the network (via a router) and is shared (another PC running XP on the network can see and use it). I have tried installing directly to the printer and these are the errors I get: Attached file: Image11184645754.jpg (www.imagef1.net.nz) (55 KB) Attached file: Image2.jpg (www.imagef1.net.nz) (37 KB) Thanks for the help - Peter |

| 569604 | 2007-07-17 05:06:00 | Man I hate Xerox printers.. I'm beginning to as well, although I didn't have this problem with another Xerox printer I have, a Phaser 3115, it worked no sweat! Its not all Xerox printers they are not supporting, only a few including my Workcentre. One of the techie guys told me that none of the NZ support team were allowed Vista machines, so they couldn't really help me with my problem. That sucks. |

| 569608 | 2007-07-17 05:27:00 | This (support.microsoft.com) may fix the error: Windows cannot connect to the printer. The specified Print Monitor is unknown Turn UAC on if its off. Go here (windowshelp.microsoft.com) To turn UAC on. |
