569383 2007-07-16 03:54:00 My adsl (IHUG) has been dead for over 4 days now and it doesn't seem as if anyone knows why. There is supposed to be a Telecom technician getting on to it tomorrow (believe it when I see it).

If there is a guru or two who could comment on my Dynalink diagnostics it might be helpful.

adsl synch pass
oam F5 segment fail
oam F5 end to end Pass
oam F4 segment Fail
oam F4 end to end Fail
PPP svr Pass
authentication with ISP Fail

TIA

569384 2007-07-16 03:59:00 Hmmm... :illogical

Um. Tried doing a hard reset of the modem and re-inputting your IHUG deatils?

569385 2007-07-16 04:58:00 Yep, done that. But I should have said I have tried two modems that have been working to this account and both gave the same result. Thanks for reply. linw (53)
569386 2007-07-16 05:20:00 I guess those two modems are different from each other?

What about your filters? Have you tried changing them?

If you have check your filters, have you tried unplugging everything part from the modem of the phone line?

569387 2007-07-16 06:20:00 One modem is a Dynalink RTA230 and the other is a D-Link 502T .

I am on a centralised filter .

Filters? What are you talking about man?? The modems don't go through any filters. If they did they would not work properly. The phone goes into the filter or the filtered line if it has been split at the box.

Me I would suggest something has been flooded out given the rain lately. Check if a phone still works on the line. Check without the filter on an you should hear a hissing noise. If not I would suggest maybe the exchange has some damage.
Telecom should be able to test your line up to the house at least.

569389 2007-07-16 10:57:00 Did ihug get you to test the connection with a different username and password in the router? CYaBro (73)
569390 2007-07-16 12:29:00 No discernible noise on either phone jack . Dial-up goes fine . We haven't had a huge amount of rain here . But I do know about this as we used to be on a line that would go out every time it rained!

IHUG didn't try me with another userid/pword . Big PITA with an ongoing problem is that you have to start from scratch each time you ring .

Telecom are supposed to have reset my port .

Oh, well, tomorrow is SUPPOSED to be the day they get to look at it . Brings it home to me how much I rely on jumping on the net! Will let you know what transpires (hope it isn't something my end:o ) .

Thanks for replies .

569391 2007-07-17 01:17:00 Does the ADSL light on your modem illuminate? ie is there any sign of DSL sync on the line?
That's the first place to look - if there's no sync on the line then playing around with passwords/logins etc will be a waste of time.
