Sorry PC,not made myself clear,

Why 209 for 20 and

399 for 500.

Seems out of kilter to me.

569087 2007-07-14 21:45:00 First one is using a portable hard drive - so very small and probably gets all its power from the USB bus.

Second one is using a desktop hard drive, much bigger physically and will not get all its power from the USB bus.

Portable technology is generally more expensive.

569089 2007-07-14 23:56:00 I appreciate your help on this,thanks all.

Portability seems to be what separates, how would 500 be connected, not USB?

Yeah, the 500GB would be connected via USB but would also need to be plugged into the wall for power since it would be a regular 3.5" HDD. The smaller 2.5" notebook HDD's usually just get their power via USB (sometimes using two USB connectors to get this power), cutting out an extra bulky power cord. And of course, the notebook drives are smaller, almost pocket size. The 20GB you linked however is a smaller 1.8" drive so is definitely pocketsize.
