| 569023 | 2007-07-14 09:34:00 | I'm running XP Home SP2 and today I installed an ethernet PCI card to go with my new broadband router . After rebooting I get a message saying "You have changed your hardware config and you have 3 days to activate XP" . Shortly after I first installed XP several years ago, I went through the activation procedure without problems . When I try to reactivate now, I don't even get to first base . There is no activation wizard anywhere to be found under Accessories/System Tools . No telephone number to ring . The short string MS suggested to enter in Run does not bring up the activation wizard . I've just reinstalled SP2 thinking something might have got corrupted . Then I went to the MS update site, was prompted to download the latest version of the updating utility which I did . Windows then wanted to validate my copy of XP (legal) . After downloading the validation tool and entering the number I ended up on a page that said my system needs to be activated! Sheesh! If anyone has any ideas I would really welcome them :) |
