570107 2007-07-19 00:50:00 Hi i am on Xtra broadband without a static IP, so i decided to sign up to a dynamic dns site (http://www.no-ip.com) i created a "dyanmic doamin" and such and use the DDNS client to keep my changing address attached to the dns name. i know ant to create a website using IIS or smething.......is this even pheasible? as i have done all the port forwarding on my router. i do know IIS to some degree. aidanmaz (7180)
570108 2007-07-19 01:35:00 Yes with port 80 forwarded to your webserver you can host your own site. Not sure what Xtra's rules are on it though? You can install IIS or Apache berryb (99)

Official Xtra rules are that you aren’t allowed run a server on there home ADSL connection.

Unofficial is that you can run a server on there home ADSL connection but if Xtra finds out about it you could loss your account.

570112 2007-07-19 05:25:00 I have Windows Home Server and use DDNS via the router for remote access. Luckly I have max/max connection. Any web site you have would be very slow on the 129Kb upload though...... SolMiester (139)
