570208 2007-07-19 08:44:00 and what about my original question, how do I know if Im using USB2 port or 1?

I would say its USB 2. Look in device manager under USB controllers. Down the bottom.

If anything here says enhanced its USB 2.

Yup I would say theyre all USB 2 ports.

Yup I looked at the Trademe link.

Did u plug this hdd directly into one of the USB ports??

Or did u plug it into a USB hub, then connect the hub to the USB port ?

As not all USB devices will work / or like being plugged into a USB hub.

570211 2007-07-19 09:50:00 no its not been plugged into a hub, straight into the usb port on the lappy. Lovelee (6586)
570212 2007-07-19 10:00:00 What size hard drive did you install into it? Jen (38)
570213 2007-07-19 10:38:00 No Jen .. I didnt install a hard drive into it :S
Please explain :O

570214 2007-07-19 10:39:00 Ah well. It does not come with a hard drive according to that Trademe ad.

You need to buy a hard drive under 200gig (I think) and install that into it first. :)

570215 2007-07-19 11:15:00 hehehehe!!
I saw on the ad that it had a removable hard disk, and it wasnt included, but I thought it had a HD also within it. If you get my drift.
How would one go about installing a hard disk to it?
Ohh dear .. how funny!
OK then . another question. If the disk is removable, where does one put it?
You cannot open this.

570216 2007-07-19 11:20:00 Well it ought to come with a manual and that will show you how to open it up and install the hard drive.

You need to buy a 2.5" hard drive (that is a laptop sized one, not the 3.5" desktop sized drives). It needs to be under 200 gig in size according to the posted specifications.

Examples here: Pricespy (www.pricespy.co.nz).

You could find a local PC tech shop that also sell laptop hard drives and just get them to install it for you if that is easier. Shop around for the price first though. :)
