570198 2007-07-19 06:45:00 But when u went to Manage, did u go to Disk Management and see if anything here was showing as unallocated??

If there is something saying unallocated (is it showing the size of that hdd), select it then right mouse / partition / format it.

You have to FORMAT it, before you'll see it in my computer.

570202 2007-07-19 08:03:00 Is this with both the USB (connected to a USB port), and power plugged into the external hdd?

Did the USB cable that you're using come with this external case/hdd?

its with both usb plugged in .. no power .. wouldnt recognise it with power and handbook says when unit used as removable hard disk, cant be connected to power supply, when i saw that, and disconnected the power, the lappy found it.

yes cables came with the unit.

570204 2007-07-19 08:23:00 What brand and model number is the external enclosure, and is this a 3.5" or 2.5" HD Rob99 (151)

That sounds like one odd external hdd/ case.

Normally its better if the power is in as well.

Plug it into a desktop if u have 1... See what that does.

I would say that case is either screwed, or the USB port its plugged into isnt giving out enough power, so it appears in Windows.

If this external case did come with a power supply, WHEN does it say u can use it then??

Or doesnt it? And if it doesnt whats the point in having it?

What are the 2 USB cables for anyway??

Or when u said both USB plugged in, did u mean just 1 USB cable?

Shouldn't it just go from the back of this case to the USB port?

Whats the other one going to?

You're not using a USB hub are you??

If you are using a hub, that may explain why its not working.

Plug it directly into a USB port.
