570436 2007-07-20 07:17:00 And I've been on broadband pretty much since Jetstream was first available and no infections. CYaBro (73)
570437 2007-07-20 07:21:00 Maybe you need to spread the word Cyabro, since you would be in the minority of computer users judging by all the infected PC users out there. winmacguy (3367)

Well that could be true but if I have been infected without my knowledge then nothing has ever happened because of it.

Hardly.
Its not that hard. You avoid the sort of activities that are a target for malware.
You have plenty of up to date anti-malware products.

Don't use MS broswers/email.

I got close once, one of my warning systems went off when I went to download a dodgy file.
But I kind of expected it.

570442 2007-07-20 21:00:00 Greg, I'm assuming you have either visited a site that looked like the regular site (but your browser may have been redirected while on its way to that site). Thats the only way I can think of

To the thread hijackers, I have been online for over 5 years, never let paranoia control my browsing habits, and got one or 2 or more viruses. I really don't care about them. If I get one, so be it, remove it (good practice anyway :D). But that was in my windows days

570443 2007-07-20 21:08:00 I have been to some dodgy sites where NOD32 kept popping up with its red warning screen :D CYaBro (73)
570444 2007-07-20 23:39:00 Update:

Well I ran Hijackthis and Spybot and both came up clean. I got some manual removal instructions for the issas.exe but found no trace of it whasoever in the registry nor anywhere else.

I found two instances of vpwodsr - one in system32 and another as a prefetch file. I couldn't find any reference to this on the Net, so I guess it's a randomly named file. I simply renamed them and will see what happens.

Anyway, system is now clean again.

Thanks for all the comments.
