2007-07-19 06:35:00 | Thanks Speedy. I had tried esc with no luck, have just repeated using tab - still no joy. Thanks though | annie (6010) | |
2007-07-19 06:55:00 | Hmm looks like a lot of people dont like that logo. One reply was: The next time you re-boot, enter your BIOS, select BOOT. The first selection/item can be set to Boot-time Diagnostic Screen - ENABLE IT. Save your BIOS settings. Taken from the Dell Community (www.dellcommunity.com) It may or may not apply to ALL Dells.

2007-07-19 07:20:00 | I had another look, but no luck. My old Dell had that option, but this one doesn't - the only options are to change the boot device sequence, or to set 'fast boot' on or off (which also makes no difference to the display during power-on). POST behaviour section offers no other options that might be useful. I think I'm stuck with contacting Dell - which I would almost certainly have had to do anyway, I guess - it sounds sort of like a hardware issue. | annie (6010) | |
2007-08-31 08:32:00 | Problem resolved (finally, it took quite a bit of time trying this and that) - the USB camera that came free with the monitor for the system was defective and causing intermittent system hang at boot. Targus are replacing it, and the Dell helpdesk were pretty good. | annie (6010) | |

From the Community Speedy supplied it says This (docs.us.dell.com) about how to disable the Logo and Display the POST, ------- "Table 11" |

2007-08-31 11:34:00 | Thanks Wainuitech, the problem is that some of the newer Dells, including mine, no longer have the option to disable the Dell splash screen, which is a pain. In my previous computers I've always had it disabled, but the setup menu on the new one doesn't have that option. Which would have saved the Dell helpdesk and me a lot of time. | annie (6010) | |
