| 570047 | 2007-07-18 18:30:00 | My cpu is an Intel extreme x6800. I notice that when useing MS flight sim, my cpu useage is in the 60/70% range. One core is showing 100% useage and the other 10/20%. Does this mean flight sim is useing all it can access? And other services are useing the rest? Or does it mean that if the sim needs more it can use the second core? Or does it mean if I make it work harder it is about to stall? So far I have had no problems and it runs faultlessly. Second question. I have 2 gigs of corsair low latency ram. My memory useage is about one and a half gigs.Yet my page file useage is sometimes up to two gigs. Why should it use any page file at all? If I run without a page file I don't have any problem. Does it just use page file because it is there? Third question. I am toying with the idea of getting a 30" lcd monitor. If I get this, what will it do to system resources and psu requirements? |

| 570048 | 2007-07-18 20:26:00 | Geez. My CPU does that - one core uses more than the other. On pretty much everything when I've bothered to look. FS is meant to support dual core isn't it? In which case it will use both if needed. I doubt other processes are using much of it, probably a little bit. Page files. Regardless of how much RAM you have WIndows always insists on having one. Its the way its written. Leav it alone and don't worry about it. The monitor has its own power - you plug it into one, so it makes no difference to your PSU. Go ahead and buy one if you like. |
