571293 2007-07-22 02:29:00 yeah except Vista gets unstable when I try it, I can't get safely remove hardware to work if I want to remove the flash drive, and it was quite difficult to convince windows not to do it again everytime I plugged the drive back in making the drive unusable for quite a while while it got set up again.

The "boost isn't really noticeable anyway, I recommend avoiding this as a gimmick.

Edit: oh and you can't use any USB stick - it has to be bigger than 256M and have a high enough transfer speed, vista tests the drive when you try to do it

571294 2007-07-22 02:33:00 I think thats WHY you tweak / change info in the registry. Speedy Gonzales (78)
571295 2007-07-22 02:47:00 yeah sorry read that afterwards - still if it's not much use on a usb stick that passes the test it won't be any better on a slow one you have to tweak windows in order to use dugimodo (138)
571296 2009-01-05 23:35:00 I installed ReadyBoost on my Sony 4Gb memory stick, and it has just about fillled up my stick, I only have 17 Kb left. I don't think it was worth all the effort, and now wish to cancel and restore my sticks' memory available to the original value, but can't see how to remove it ?

Help pls.

You have to disable Readyboost on that flash drive before the file will go away. Here's how: www.informationweek.com H0CJUNN2JVN?articleID=198500307&pgno=2&_requestid=650835

571298 2009-01-06 06:25:00 It boosts performance on slow computers, on fast ones the improvement is minimal. SuSu (12582)

Thank you, but the options to "Do Not Use This Device " or "Use This Device" no longer appear in the ReadyBoost tab in the device Properties.
