2007-07-21 00:25:00 | This small home network of 3 PCs, everything is working fine - Internet, file sharing, printer sharing all work as expected. After I downloaded and applied the autopatcher for the Windows update yesterday to PC #1, the updates were applied successfully, that's great! Tested Internet access -good; accessing files from PC#2 & PC#3 - no problem; Printing - no problem. That's excellent! This morning, when I turned on the computers and tried to access some files from PC#1 (that one that I applied the updates yesterday), acess is denied! Error message reads: "\\xxxxx is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied. OK" PC#1 could still access the other 2 computers without any problem. Any suggestions? Cheers

2007-07-21 03:30:00 | Have you tried.... 1) Ping PC#1 via PC#2 and PC#3? 2) Disable and re-enable file sharing on PC#1? It might be helpful if you can tell us what patches have the autopatcher installed on your computer. Cheers :)

Cheers :) The mistake I made was, I ticked all those items that appeared when loading the Autopatcher! Not aware that I can (or should) choose only those required updates!:o I may have to restore my OS. |

2007-07-21 11:54:00 | Just restored (using Ghost image) the computer and my home network is back to normal. Re-applied Autopatch, this time selected only those Windows updates; but after completing the updates and rebooted the PC, all other computers again cannot access files in PC#1. There must be one of those updates that stops other computer from accessing it, but there are so many updates, I don't know which is the culprit. How do I trouble-shoot this problem? Can someone help? OS: Windows XP Pro for all the 3 machines.

2007-07-22 02:54:00 | Hey bk T. It may be useful, as I have said earlier, to list down the updates that Autopatch has applied to PC#1. If it is a long list, I suggest you post a screenshot of it on ImageF1. Cheers :)
