You cannot judge pc configuration building quality soley from home pc configurations, Only in an a work domain,where you have control on hardware/software configuration can you give any serious judgment of hardware quality IMHO . I have had experience with corporate/business PCs . Yes, you can judge them by home PCs, this is mostly what PressF1 is all about anyway . Don't see too many corporates asking for recommendations here . And they all have the same hardware . Lets skip servers, most businesses have far more desktop Pcs than servers . And how does a domain have anythng to do with quality parts? I've worked for F&Ps IT dept, and AUckland Unis too . I've seen plenty of rubbish and hardware failures . Akld Uni changes quite often, Dell, Compaq or whatever . My boss in our particular dept wouldn't use them, he used to get custom built for the 4 of us . Or parts and make us build our own in one case . I still have friends working there in IT and she agrees with Metla and me . They use them because they get a good deal - think about how many they get at a time, and because they only lease them, therefore when one stops, they don't care, some Dell/Compaq geek comes out and replaces it . That doesn't mean they have good hardware . Occasionally I see one that might have a good HDD or reasonable motherboard . Never do they have good everything . And the PSUs are always crap . And a corporsate environment is a whole different thing, the user doesn't own it, they aren't using it for anything other than business type stuff so it can usually be lame . At home is another thing altogether . |
