571482 2007-07-24 23:33:00 I’ve been following this thread and downloaded "You Tube Downloader".

It downloaded and installed fine and I’ve even downloaded a small .avi file.

Unfortunately, WMP9 will play the sound but not the Video. I note there is a warning on the downloader that this could happen and the problem would be a codec missing.

Ok, but I thought WMP9 played .avi files?

Anyone point me in the right direction?

WMP9 & XP Home.

Chuck this ( . free-codecs . com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download . htm" target="_blank">www . free-codecs . com) (3 . 25 full) codec package on - will solve all your problems! It's because Youtube now uses the H . 264 codec for video, which WMP doesn't support by default . If that still doesn't work put WMP 10 ( . microsoft . com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default . aspx" target="_blank">www . microsoft . com) on aswell as the codec package .

Other than that download VLC Media Player . ( . videolan . org/vlc/" target="_blank">www . videolan . org)
