| 571408 | 2007-07-22 23:42:00 | it dosent seem to perform that great on those charts above tho for a quad? A quad core really isn't going to do anything faster unless you have smp (en.wikipedia.org) aware apps/games. There aren't (yet) many things on Windows at least, that take advantage of the extra cores. That said, i'd imagine in the next few years you'll see a heap of apps & games that will happily gobble up those extra cores & you'll be moving to 8/16/whatever core cpus. :) |

| 571410 | 2007-07-23 00:00:00 | What's the chance of these price cuts trickling down to the entry level notebook Core 2 Duo processors? I was planning to buy a new notebook in the next couple of weeks but now I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to hold off a bit longer. | alasta (6652) | ||
| 571411 | 2007-07-23 01:04:00 | yea who knows if the duos are going to have a price cut? or is it just the q6600 and thats it? |

| 571412 | 2007-07-23 01:10:00 | it dosent seem to perform that great on those charts above tho for a quad? The Quad offers a definite performance gain over the dual processor for video editing which is what most people will buy it for if they are not gamers. |

You still have to pair it with a decent video card setup, realistically even SLI will offer a GPU bottleneck on any game the can fully utilize all four cores. Even if the game's aware and capable of using all four cores realistically it wont be taking anywhere near fully advantage of them. |

| 571414 | 2007-07-23 02:34:00 | Will the QUAD cores drop in price again this year? Q6600 is $299 at newegg will the higher Q's go lower in price by this years end?? |

AFAIK, Alan Wake will use 1 core for Physics, 1 core for A1, 1 for user and 1 for environment maps. I'd rather have 4 cores @ 25% usage than 2 @ 50%, or 1 @ 100% |
