Try installing whatever and reading the HELP file before u decide whether its too hard or not

I think he was actually asking for a little advice based on our experiences with such programs. Nothing wrong with that.

www.freedownloadscenter.com

or:

www.axantum.com

I use them both, they both work very well. BladeBox is ultra cool, use the Iron Edition it is free.

AxCrypt is free as well. Very good for small files - keeping things away from prying eyes, I use it with right click/encrypt/password, just don't forget the password you use or that is it you will never see the secrets again haha.

Same with BladeBox, very good security just more to set up, a secret store on your HDD.

Zqwerty and WolfForest22, go into Safe Mode and see if your hidden files are visible.

If the files are actually encrypted, i.e. scrambled, then they should be still hidden. I recall reading about someone who was shocked to find all of his hidden folders were revealed by simply going into Safe Mode.

I also think hidden files should be revealed if the pc is booted using a Linux CD. Again, encrypted files should still be unaccessible but maybe the names of each file could be read - this may not be so good because if there is a file named "credit card" or "passwords" then that could be subject to heavy duty hacking / decrypting.
