571116 2007-07-21 22:42:00 PC General running Win98SE has two physical drives, C is still available but D does not appear in My Computer.

FDD 5.25 also went AWOL but pulled that back in through Award 1.0 BIOS setting.

Any help on resurrecting this drive would be appreciated.

571117 2007-07-21 22:46:00 And whats D? A hdd or cd/dvd?

The cable isn't on cable select is it. I take it the BIOS isnt picking D up?

And there is power going to D?

571118 2007-07-21 22:57:00 Hi Speedy, yes it's a Hard Drive 2gig. Holds wifey's data.

CD Rom drive has taken place of D in My Computer, which confused wife.

How do we test power to this drive?.

One other thing we have noticed, Daylight Saving window popped up a few times asking for setting to be made.

PC is used almost every day for designing cards, birthdays, greetings etc.

Thanks,

Lurks.

571119 2007-07-21 23:10:00 If D is a hdd, you'll have to open the case and see if a molex connector is plugged into it.

Whats the CD then?? E?

Is the time the right time in 98??

If it isnt you'll have to go into the BIOS and set the date and time and save the settings.

Is this 2 GB hdd getting detected n the BIOS then?? Put whatever IDE its on, on AUTO.

Whats connected to what? The 2 hdd's are primary IDE, and the CD is on Secondary IDE??

571120 2007-07-22 01:38:00 Thanks Speedy. We adjusted the time when the daylight saving screen came up.

This PC has definately had it's day.

Wifey has $1,300.00 tucked away and wants to buy something decent.

DSE have an Acer Aspire T180 in the final day of sale $999.00 or $800.00 for just the box.

Would this be a good buy and if not what would recommend?.

Thanks again for all your efforts.

571121 2007-07-22 01:46:00 I would build one, if u know how or have before.

It'll most probably be better / faster / cheaper than that Acer.

571122 2007-07-22 02:04:00 Speedy, we can't even fix problems! build one would be a bit too much for me.

Thanks,

Lurks.

571123 2007-07-22 02:10:00 lol well in that case, dont build one.

Starting from 748 to 1800.

Oh forget which one didnt read the 999 / 800 one.

Do u REALLY want Vista?
