571822 2007-07-23 11:45:00 Hi,

First of all, for the record, I think Clear.net "professional" webhosting is a total Total rip off. However, as this is an urgent job, my client needed to use their hosting.

Now I am faced with their Appalling documentation and Terrible customer service.

www.clear.net.nz

Is the page. I don't have those programs (and I am on Windows xp... Not 3.1 or 95).

I have set up an account as a "webmaster" or some such but it can't reach the connection. What are the credentials?

ftp.domain.com?

Doesn't work!

Any ideas?

571823 2007-07-23 18:33:00 Ok, you'll make it a lot simpler for yourself if you download and install an FTP programme such as the one I recommend... WS_FTP LE - I've put a copy of this on my server (www.forcenz.com/downloads/ws_ftple.exe) where you can download it free.

If you go this route I can give you the step-by-step setup info.

But given that the job is urgent why not let someone set this up for you on a server like mine? Can be done within a day and probably be a lot cheaper and certainly less hassle.

Drop me a PM if you'd like more info.

571824 2007-07-23 20:18:00 Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I downloaded cuteftp (like it said in the documentation) but it didn't work. I have many other websites set up as sites (with ftp access) in Dreamweaver 8 which I use.

I thought of pointing the domain to my server but it takes a while for the nameservers to change and it needs to be done by tonight.

Do you use an IM program. Greg?

Do you use an IM program. Greg?Sorry nope. But changing nameservers can happen within the day. And at worst you can make the site accessible immediately using a subdomain.

When setting up CuteFTP ensure you've got the following information correct:
Hostname/Address
Host Type
User ID
Password

Remember to give cuteftp access to the Internet in your firewall.
