| 572087 | 2007-07-24 11:06:00 | The answer would probably depend on how many people you asked and what their experiences were with either model. HP (who own Compaq) are the largest PC seller in the world. But I gather that Acer also make decent PCs.... I have an iMac. :) |

| 572088 | 2007-07-24 11:08:00 | Get one assembled. The pre-assembled brand name desktops have to be the biggest rip-off I have ever seen. Plus you get exactly what you want and don't have to waste money on unnecessary parts. | beeswax34 (63) | ||
| 572089 | 2007-07-24 21:17:00 | Which one is better. Looking at systems under $1200 Why?! Neither. Or don't you care about getting unknown, totally random components in it? And having to ring India when something goes wrong? And another thing: You know with all this buy NZ stuff on at the moment why does everyone want to give their money to large US corporations? OK, we don't make the parts here but there are plenty of local reputable PC shops who happily assemble them to suit your needs and provide excellent after sales service too. Support your local PC guy. (By local I mean NZ - not the dodgy shop on the corner necessarily) |

| 572091 | 2007-07-24 21:29:00 | NEITHER OF THEM!!!! All desktop brands are crap. As everyone else has said get someone 'local' to assemble it. When your Compaq breaks try ringing India or Malaysia - not fun!:dogeye: ascent.co.nz is a great safe easy place to get a PC built (you don't have to get out of your chair - they will post it to your door), If you are not into assembling one yourself, and you can choose the components you want. Any questions about what's best to get, all the lovely people here will be more than happy to help!:D |
