571946 2007-07-23 23:26:00 Hi

I recently got Telstra Cable and want to share it amongst other PC's in the house via a D-Link Router. I'm not quite sure what I have to do to setup the router and PC's as the modem uses a fixed Ip. If anyone can give some brief instructions that would be really helpful.

571948 2007-07-24 07:18:00 Hi there

It is a D-Link DI-704UP.

Thanks - Paul

571949 2007-07-24 09:44:00 I reckon it should just about work out of the box. Set up your workstations to be DHCP (receive an automatic IP address) and connect to the router/switch. johnd (85)

That's what I thought and set both to DHCP but then I get no connectivity so it doesen't seem to be picking anything up, have tried resets etc.

Cheers - Paul

571951 2007-07-26 10:59:00 I suggest that you temporarily set your workstations to a compatible static IP address to the router then use ping to test that you have basic connectivity. johnd (85)
