571568 2007-07-22 22:41:00 I think most people use Super some free converter.

I use this (www.alloksoft.com)

And this (www.alivemedia.net)

Only thing is, theyre not free.

I wouldnt bother putting a whole DVD on a video Ipod. The battery goes down pretty quick. Especially when watching a video.

571570 2007-07-23 01:22:00 Another plug for HandBrake - it's easy to use and produces some spectacular results :-).

I think there is also a GUI version for Windows, although I have no idea what that's like - I use the CLI Linux one.

571573 2007-07-23 05:21:00 Doesn't iTunes do this?

You could use DVDshrink or similar to make an unprotected version then use iTunes to convert that possibly.

Sorry if this isn't helpful, haven't actually ever felt the need to have an iPod

571574 2007-07-23 05:22:00 iTunes does it but only after you have put your DVD through Handbreak. winmacguy (3367)
571575 2007-07-23 08:07:00 iTunes does it but only after you have put your DVD through Handbreak. And if you're using HandBrake anyway, you might as well use it for the encoding too. Means you can achieve the entire thing with a single command. :D

DVD in, h.246 out, no hassle.

571576 2007-07-23 08:20:00 That is true but to get a DVD onto your iPod first you have to put it through Handbrake then use the convert for iPod command in iTunes in order to get it to synch with your iPod. winmacguy (3367)
