573088 2007-07-27 01:45:00 Thats a good deal..... and a smallish step up.

You'll want to get a proper graphics card later on though.

EDIT: I assume the installed Vista is legit?

573089 2007-07-27 01:57:00 I'd want a standalone Vid Card for vista.

I would say an Athlon x2 is right on the line for speed in terms of CPU speed for an acceptable Vista machine.

Good Job :)

Very good deal, not so sure about a decent step up though. Thats a 900Mhz speed drop on the processor which is alot of instructions per cucle the new cpu has to do just to get even with the old cpu. I would say multi-tasking would be better, but dont think you will notice much of a speed bump.

But being dual core i thought this was basically like 2 @ 2gz?? correct me if im wrong on this one
and yes it is a legit version of vista and will upgrade to bigger hard drive plus graphics and sound card somehwere down the track just they are not essential right now

Hi, the 2nd core will only be used by the O/S or applications that are multi-threaded (encoding, Photoshop etc)

I really dont think there is too much between the processors in single thread apps..
Check here (www23.tomshardware.com) but note these are multi-thread comparisons
