2007-07-26 04:02:00 | A few months ago I purchased a new computer with Windows Vista Premium 64 bit. I transferred my Nortons Internet Security 2007 on to it and everything is going reasonably well except!!! Where as previously, when ever I imported a file, I always scanned it using the antivirus scanner. I was able to very easily access the antivirus scanner by right clicking the newly imported file and from the drop down menu, left click on the Nortons Antivirus link. 2 clicks and it was done. Now, with Vista I have to go through a tedious and time wasting procedure requiring about 7 steps to get to the point where I can scan the file and a further 2 or 3 clicks to get out again. I have rung both Microsoft, here in NZ and also Symantec and neither could help me. Does anyone have any ideas?

2007-07-26 05:21:00 | I was able to very easily access the antivirus scanner by right clicking the newly imported file and from the drop down menu, left click on the Norton’s Antivirus link . 2 clicks and it was done . Now, with Vista I have to go through a tedious and time wasting procedure requiring about 7 steps to get to the point where I can scan the file and a further 2 or 3 clicks to get out again . So what are these "7 steps"? Do you not have an option in your right-click menu to scan your files like with Win XP? When your subscription expires it would be better to replace Norton with a better AV such as Avast or AVG, both of which are free for home use . Changing now would be even better .

I can't get the anti virus from the drop down menu. In XP this is available either in Norton's or AVG or any other make. Is it something that has changed in Vista? 1 Open Nortons Security Centre 2 Change the tab to Norton Internet Sevurity 3 Click on the "Configure a Scan 4 Click on "Manage a Custom Scan" 5 Click on "Scan Files" 6 Navigate the "Look in" to fine the file "Downloads" 7 Click on the file concerned Then it is about 3 steps to get back to square one |

2007-07-26 06:22:00 | Wow, I dunno what's worse - Norton, or Vista AV. I dont think Vista has an AV. It (Nortons), would have been pre-installed.

2007-07-26 06:41:00 | Not a Vista issue it's a Norton configuration problem. Suggest you install a different AV as Nortons sucks arse. | Rob99 (151) | |
2007-07-26 07:14:00 | Wow, it takes 7 steps to protect your computer? My 1 step would be - Use anything other than Windows/Norton AV/firewall and dont download porn/torrent. (Kinda 2 steps, but the second is more advice lol)
