572717 2007-07-25 21:26:00 I have HP laptop and last night I tried hooking it up onto my TV. Everything seems to be working fine, I can hear the sound, I can see my desktop, programs I am running BUT when I play my movies on any software(Win media player, Divx player) it doesnt display it? I can see the movie playing on my laptop but not on TV? I can hear it but can only see black screen? Anyone has an idea why? I am using 7PIN s-video connector into RCA and then another 2 RCA cables for Audio coming out of my speaker connector - that works fine. Laptop has ATI video card. I have tried searching for similar problems on google but no luck.
PLEASE HELP :help:

572718 2007-07-25 21:33:00 Did you enable TV out using the ATI drivers / Catalyast Control Centre, if this is installed as well???

If you right mouse on the desktop is Catalyst Control Centre there?

572719 2007-07-25 21:41:00 Hey
Thanks for your reply
Nah I am 99% sure there is nothng like Catalyst Control Centre in there. Mind you I am at work now so I dont have the laptop with me but I am 99% sure I dont have Catalyst Control Centre.
Could it be because I am running it through VCR? I mean I dnt get it, it must be working cz I can see everything on TV just the movies dont play, the picture. Maybe it is some settings on media player I need to adjust?
Pretty lost here :stare:

572720 2007-07-25 21:50:00 Well you'll need the Catalyst control centre (CCC for short, which if u download the drivers from the ATI site, is around 35mb). This includes the drivers.

CCC as above is what "activates" TV out on the videocard.

This is what gets the picture on a TV or another monitor

You can either use CCC or download ATI Tray Tools from here (www.guru3d.com)

Which will do the same thing as CCC.

572721 2007-07-25 21:59:00 Aight I will try that..
But you do know I can see the picture - like desktop and stuff, just not movies.. most of them are AVI formats.

572722 2007-07-25 22:08:00 It sounds like you have to install codecs, if you can see the desktop on the TV .

But can't see a picture on the computer or the TV, when you play these movies .

572723 2007-07-25 22:14:00 like on my laptop all works fine, can see the movies and stuff..
its just on TV, the only thing that is not showing is the actuall movie picture. Like i can see media player on my tv and where the movie should be playing its just blank. BUT at the same time, the movie still plays on my laptop. If it was codec, it wouldnt play on laptop either but it does. Someone suggested it could be the TV cant display the resolution of the movie.

572724 2007-07-25 22:18:00 Have you tried using dualview (two seperate monitors, not cloned) and dragging the media player over to your TV's screen and trying then? wratterus (105)
572725 2007-07-25 22:24:00 Nope havent tried that .
How do you do that? Do you have to install something? Sorry for acting dumb haha, never done this kind of thing before .

Thanks

572726 2007-07-25 22:26:00 You may be able to sort that out through display properties (right mouse on desktop, properties, settings) but I think you'll need to install the CCC. Once you've got the catalyst drivers on it should be easy to operate and change settings. wratterus (105)
