572692 2007-07-25 19:11:00 Whenever i try to attempt to open MS Paint, i get this error message,

"There is not enough memory or resources to complete operation. Close some programs and try again."

I am running Windows XP if that helps. Any help on this would be great, thank you.

572693 2007-07-25 20:01:00 From here (phorums.com.au):
Hi xxxxxx,

This fix usually works:

Close any/all instances of MSPaint. Then start/run regedit, navigate to this
key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre nt Version\Applets\Paint

Hightlight (click on it) that key and delete it. Close the registry editor
and reopen Paint.

572694 2007-07-26 13:01:00 Hi Roger,

That did not work to good. When i navigated to the:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre nt Version\Applets

Paint was not in the Applets folder. Do you know why this could be? Any help on this would be great. Thanks again.

572695 2007-07-26 13:18:00 You could try going into Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel then to Windows Components and remove Paint.
Restart the computer then go and reinstall it again. You may need a Windows XP disc to do this.

If you still get the error see if the regedit trick works now.

572696 2007-07-26 14:06:00 No, the MS paint is not in the Add/Remove programs list either.

Do you think resetting the memory could solve this?

572697 2007-07-26 16:59:00 dont know what you mean by 'resetting the memory'.......but yes paint WILL be int add/remove programs/windows components...

it's NOT in the 'general' list of add/remove progs.....you need to clik on the side link of that box.......'windows components' then look under accessories......

572699 2007-07-26 17:24:00 reseating the ram wont make any difference ........well i'd be very suprised if it did.......ram not seated correctly usually wont work at all you need to go to the control panel and remove paint and reinstall it as directed.... drcspy (146)

Yea sorry should have explained it better .

In Add or Remove Programs, down the left side, you should see Add/Remove Windows Components . Click on that and another window will open .
Click the details button twice, once for Accessories and Utilities (another window will open) and again for Accessories . (another window will open)
Now scroll down until you see Paint and untick the box next to it .
Click OK a couple of times then Next and Windows will do its thing .
Restart the computer then follow the above again but this time put the tick back in the box for Paint .
