| 572658 | 2007-07-25 12:07:00 | I have an old IDE hard drive which has Windows 98 loaded on it. I currently run an AMD chipset with 2Gb ram etc etc. My pc "sees" the other drive but when I try and open it, it shows nothing. I have been through My Computer and "disc Management" and I can then see what is used and what is free, but again I can't access the files. I am trying to get some old material out of the "My Documents" file. I have backed the drive up but still can't read it. Any ideas? Thanks |

| 572659 | 2007-07-25 13:33:00 | when you check disk usage via my computer does it show what is used and what isn't?? or is that only shown when you use disk management? Another way would be to create a windows 98 boot cd and checking to see if you can see any files via DOS.. if you can then you know its your OS causing the problem.. i have seen comps with windows xp locking out an entire partition from being accessed (this can seen via disk management not via my computer). |
