Is it time to get a new DVD writer? It's about 2 years old and has been working fine untill few days ago. Changed a few brands of DVD media but no luck.

Which Model is recommended?

574091 2007-07-30 02:47:00 Check the Burn speed of your CD/DVD media. Try burning slower. or maybe a different Brand of media.

I have a Pioneer A09 and a Pioneer 111 and both work fine. I have run into problems letting nero burn too fast though.

Make it hang on in there until Blu-Ray becomes more affordable:-)

I assume it has the latest Firmware.

574092 2007-07-30 02:48:00 Updating the firmware might help / 1.40 is a bit old.

It looks like its now up to 1.57

Updating the firmware may make it more compatible with other media

How exactly were you burning these photos? With Nero or Nerovision?

And what were u using DVD+, - or RW?

I take it you (once it works) want to view these photos on a standalone dvd / cd player (besides the PC's DVD)?

574093 2007-07-30 03:29:00 Do you have ASPI installed? I had a similar problem with a Samsung DVD/RW and installing the ASPI divers solved the problem.

Cheers

574094 2007-07-30 03:50:00 Hmm updating Nero might help

You shouldnt have to install ASPI. With XP.

I've never installed it , and Nero burns to cd/dvd. No prob at all.

BUT as Chief says Samsungs may need it.

But this:

Session Closed, disc fixated

Looks like it closed off writing to the cd. Did you format this dvd/cd whatever it is, before you burned the photos to it?

Could be possible since it looks like INCD is installed something is conflicting.

574095 2007-07-30 05:00:00 Going by the log it was a DVD-R

"7:46:53 p.m. #25 CDR -1128 File Writer.cpp, Line 311
Unrecoverable read error"
Maybe bad file or filename too long, trouble reading.
Bantu (52)
574096 2007-07-30 05:38:00 I have had troubles with filenames being too long when writing CDs. I forget the character count where it caused a fatal error, but if it looks too long, it is. ;) . Graham L (2)
574097 2007-07-30 10:38:00 I was backing up some music files and Nero said that some of the names were too long and asked me to use "7 character filename system" or something and it truncated the names I think. So how come that din't happen here? beeswax34 (63)
