573871 2007-07-29 05:29:00 Hey guys,

Does anyone have an XP driver for the asus f5r notebook? I downloaded all the drivers from the asus website but even the XP package contains just vista drivers. If you have your sound working on an f5r with XP can you please send me your drivers or tell me where you got them from?

Cheers,
Rob

573872 2007-07-29 05:40:00 Theyre here (dlsvr01.asus.com)

From the ASUS site (support.asus.com)

Is that the file you downloaded?

573873 2007-07-30 00:49:00 yep got that file but it just contains a vista folder and a vista64 driver. Both of them contain the driver files but they aren't compatible with XP, and I can't see any XP driver files in the package. They seem to be the same as the vista packages.

After installing it there is no sound device listed.

573874 2007-07-30 01:07:00 So what was on it originally??

If Vista, thats most probably why it had Vista on it originally.

Because, there were / are no XP drivers.

Other than that, send ASUS an email.

573875 2007-07-30 01:23:00 How big is the file you downloaded? It should be around 30Mb
Do you have the original driver CD that came with the Laptop?

573876 2007-07-30 01:43:00 Dammit... I got xp drivers for everything else on there. I was hoping someone may have got the laptop before they switched everything to vista.

God I hate microsoft and their OS force-feeding.

Email asus ya reckon?

573877 2007-07-30 01:43:00 Yeah the driver disk that came with it is ALL vista. Otherwise i would be sweet as... hamstar (4)
573878 2007-07-30 01:49:00 ASUS site says its a Azalia compliant audio chip, with 3D effect & full duplex (ALC 660D)

But couldn't find any drivers googling that...

573879 2007-07-30 02:02:00 Someone in the ASUS forum (vip.asus.com)

Said this (dlsvr01.asus.com)

Has to be installed first. Theyre the:

Universal Audio Architecture bus driver and Audio driver
Universal Audio Architecture bus driver and Audio driver for WinXP

Its 51.2 mb. Which will enable the audio, and modem hardware.
