| 573598 | 2007-07-28 21:34:00 | I have my server (Linux:Mepis) holding all my vids and I want to be able to check in with it at while I am here on a different tower/monitor/system. All my computers are linked via routers and I want to be able to see what's going on with a smaller picture-in-picture on this screen I am using now (XP-Pro). I figure on h.264 transfiguration format for the pop-in screen. What do you think? BTW: does Mepis support h.264? |

| 573605 | 2007-07-28 23:08:00 | vnc can be useful to see the screen but video streaming across it wouldn't be too nice to watch imo.. and vnc is not a virtual machine..why is VM mentioned in the first place? oh and parallels is for mac users to run a microsoft OS inside their mac OS, so just the usual virtualisation stuff |

| 573607 | 2007-07-28 23:14:00 | How far is the Linux PC from the XP PC?? In the same room? In another room? Beside each other? If they were pretty close, you could just hook up another monitor to the Linux PC if it had dual connections. Or if the Linux PC's videocard had something like an RCA connection on it (video out), all you would need is a little monitor with RCA inputs, and put it beside the XP PC. |
