| 573305 | 2007-07-27 13:31:00 | Hey everybody I'm trying to connect my laptop (Vista Home Premium) to my main desktop (XP Home) and I simply can't do it. I have a wireless router (WRT54G) that I'm trying to connect through. The laptop wirelessly and the desktop through ethernet. Can anyone give me some help in simple steps. I've tried numerous guides on Google including the MS one's and none of them have helped. Thanks:thumbs: |

| 573306 | 2007-07-27 15:03:00 | File sharing? Pinging? Start with the laptop, trying to access the desktop, just in case (like mine) your WRT54g is NAT'ing and wont let traffic initiate from the LAN side... Easiest, fastest way is to disable the firewalls on both boxes. Then, make sure both can ping the your WRT54G AP. Then, get them to ping each other. Once they can ping each other, THEN look in to File-sharing / networking permissions etc. Try the FAQ here :) |

And drag / copy whatever files to the public folder. For them to be seen. And he finally got it going between 2k,XP, and Vista. This (www.microsoft.com) May also help. |
