574015 2007-07-31 00:10:00 lol well I know its MEANT to .

But on this, even after I reformatted (over the weekend just gone), it wont bring up the window asking if you want to save passwords .

It just logs me into whatever site .

I asked in a IE newsgroup . And did a few things some guy from MS said to do .

Still no go . Altho, it looks like I'm not the only one with this prob . In the newsgroup, people using Vista were having the same prob .
Is this any help? . . . . . . . . .

In fact, the passwords in the current Beta version of Internet Explorer 7 . 0 are saved in 3 different locations, depending on the type of the saved password:
HTTP Authentication Passwords: This type of passwords is saved in the Microsoft Credential file, under Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Microsoft\Credentials\, together with login passwords of LAN computers and . NET Passport passwords .
You can view this type of passwords with Network Password Recovery utility, starting from version 1 . 03 .
Notice: HTTP authentication passwords are displayed as "Password-protected sites" in Protected Storage PassView utility

AutoComplete Passwords: This type of passwords is saved in a completely new location in the Registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\IntelliForms\Storage2

FTP Passwords: In the Beta 2 of IE7, passwords of FTP servers are still stored in the Protected Storage, in the same manner that they are saved in previous versions of IE, and you can still use Protected Storage PassView to view them .
In the Beta 3 of IE7, the FTP passwords are not saved in the system anymore . This behaviour might be changed in the final version of IE7 .
A new utility that can recover AutoComplete and HTTP Authentication passwords of Internet Explorer 7 is available to download on NirSoft Web site: IE PassView

I tried this trick, Storage2 isnt there, since it doesnt save passwords. Well doesnt ask to save passwords.

Tried this too, doesnt work, since there are no passwords.

Can we assume you have looked at IE options . . auto complete and settings, wherein you find, prompt me to save passwords?

574018 2007-07-31 03:17:00 Yup unticked the AC options, closed IE .

Opened IE up again . Tick the AC options again . Reset IE . Reconfigured IE .

Made no diff

Funny thing is the other PC is fine, it comes up with the prompt asking if I want to save passwords .

Everything on the other PC is the same as this . Except for Storage 1 and 2 under the Intelliforms entry .

Errr just tried it on the Gmail , and Comodo Forum site it worked .

Just doesnt work in this forum . . .

574019 2007-07-31 03:28:00 If neither FF or Opera floats your boat, what about Maxthon (http://www.maxthon.com/) ?

It's basically IE with a new face and tweaks, so supposedly no page compatibility probs. I tried it briefly & it's very customisable, don't know if it does what the original poster wants though.

Have you tried a different URL for this forum

eg
http://pressf1.co.nz/
instead of
http://pressf1.pcworld.co.nz

I had a loopy problem on firefox a while ago where only one URL would autologin but no matter what i did the other one never remembered me, both seem fine now

Yup, just tried it, still logs in without coming up with the prompt, asking for the username/pw.

I had probs with earlier versions of FF (1.5.x.x), it wouldnt save anything, no matter what site I went to (until I got a script that fixed it).

But since I've been using 2.0.x.x of FF, I've never had any probs with logging into sites, and FF remembering my username/pw.
