2007-07-30 08:28:00 | The 4000+ is great and I think a little better than the Pentium there, and overall the AMD system looks like the better one. What speed is the DDR2 RAM you already have, though?? And do you have the model number of the motherboard for the AMD system? I don't see it mentioned anywhere... hay there, the RAM i currently have is on 533 but it better than nothing should be ok and do the trick for the time being not to much slower than what comes with the PC, no idea of the model number for the mother baord thats all the info i have im leaning towards the AMD one at the moment seems to be suitable for my current needs and upgradable for anything i want in the future would mind maybe a AMD 4200 tho a bit quicker but the 4000 is a good price

2007-07-30 08:43:00 | Your only problem there is that the 667 RAM which comes with it, will have run at 533 to match the slower stick. Got a website link for the PC? might be able to find the motherboard details on there...

2007-07-30 11:14:00 | Yeah the AMD one, the M2N8-VMX, much better than the P5VD2-MX. Better onboard video, more RAM slots, gigabit lan, supports DDR2-800...

2007-07-30 21:19:00 | Go for the AMD CPU, the Intel CPU is the 1st dual core flavor that had and is not as good as the current Core2Duo CPU's. Cheers

2007-07-31 00:36:00 | OP - the AM2 CPU is better than the Intel Pentium D, however the Intel Core2Duo is better than both which you dont list. If going for the AM2 system, get the Asus M2A HDMI motherboard, it has a been on-board video controller that supports dual display and High Def video output. I personally wouldnt get the Pentium D, as it is a very hot CPU which will need a very good HSF which in turn will probably be too noisy when watch videos!
