| 573855 | 2007-07-29 07:08:00 | I have got a small problem where I bought a 2.5" USB enclosure for laptop hard drive. I can see the drive under disk drives in device manager but doesnt show up under disk management. Any ideas, thanks. |

| 573856 | 2007-07-29 07:48:00 | Have you tried rebooting with the Drive attached? You could try removing all the USB1/2 devices from the device manager and let XP re-install them before you connect the USB HDD again. |

Unless the drive is partitioned and formatted you will have problems . One partition or several . Your choice . Have you tried Start, Control Panel, Admin Tools, Computer Management, Disk management? You will have to create at least one partition and one drive . Try right click and format the drive . Ensure you do not format your boot drive like C: Be careful . |

I use disk mamagement to format my newly attached drives. Are you able to format the drive in Windows Explorer? I would suggest removing then reconnecting the drive and do a complete cold boot. Don't plug the drive in after Windows has started up. Cheers |
