574997 2007-08-01 08:48:00 Does anyone know of a downloadable program that will test the workings of vid card.
I am getting dumped on occasions. A message flashes on screen about incompatable video card, but it goes before I can read it. Then the screen goes black and either locks up or reboots.
Thanks,

The moment you see the message, hit the print screen key.

And?

He said it locks up or reboots........

Windows Print Screen Key. There are some who initially think that when they press the Print Screen Key that it will literally be sent to the printer! Actually, if you are using DOS, it will be sent to the printer.

The sole function of this key is to take a snapshot or picture of your computer screen and copy it to the clipboard .

I am well aware of the function of the print screen key pctek !!! I have used it for viewing an error message that has come up on my screen and disappeared before I could read it. Opened it up in a paint program and was able to read the error message.

575003 2007-08-01 23:59:00 Trev, I think PCTek is saying that if the PC locks, using the Screen Dump feature is useless as the PC reboots, their is no way to paste the contents to read! SolMiester (139)

Sweet Jesus. How many people have you driven insane with "Trevor :)" on the end of every post ?

But anyway, get a program called Everest, navigate to the "Sensor" section and you should be able to see the temp. that the "GPU" is getting to. Your video card may be getting to hot.

Does this happen when playing games or just Windows use ?

If so, what games ?

What video card have you got ?

What Power Supply have you got ?
