574823 2007-08-02 02:44:00 Yes, don't listen to me....What do I know?:D

Actually probably not as much as me :) no offense your comment was correct but without any explanation. Here is why I added.

There was a lot of confustion about Conroe Core temp (Tjunction) as Intel released the wrong specs at launch stateing Tjunction at 61.4C.

They corrected later to 61.4C Tcase and 85C Tjunction (75 realistically 85 is thermal shutdown to prevent damage).

Unfortunately the typo stuck and ever since then many users in hardware forums are stuck on th 61.4C in TAT is hot. It has been exceeding difficult to convince C2D owners anything below 75C in TAT is actually fine.

Sorry to add, I know you like to think you are the only Guru here :)

lol Actually new account and have probably posted several thousand times over the years (changed ISP's and of course reset password.....)

Post count should not determine right or wrong. Also keep in mind a person with 5000 posts can still be capable of making a bad post from time to time and deserve a slight ribbing, keeps it spicy :)

Yea I get that a lot :)

574828 2007-08-02 07:00:00 He has still stuffed up his air-flow, changing 1 of the rear rears to intake, and 51-55c (did he say) is NOT very flash temps for C2D at stock load! with a 3rd party HSF! SolMiester (139)
574829 2007-08-02 07:47:00 Just checked anandtech for temps under load with different coolers.

The x6800 with the Intel stock HSF = 56c, the Gemini II = 39c

So, as I said before, the HS maybe incorrectly applied, ie: not sitting quite right, or too much paste.

You are incorrect, TAT measures Tjunction where 56C is very good, you are referring to Tcase.

574831 2007-08-02 22:41:00 Trouble is Airflow is taken out of the equation in terms of it helping my CPU.

The GeminII is so big that it blocks any airflow.

I'm getting load temps of around 41 - 42 now (playing games, not under the 100% load tests fro TAT), and Idle temps of 32 - 35. But I'm still not happy as my room gets pretty cold. Once ambient temp hits 25.C which is what most reviews for heatsinks are done at i have a feeling it will get to 45 - 46.C.

I'm going to lap my Zalman heatsink in the weekend and see if that helps any.

Oh, and i only put enough Arctic Silver on to cover the head of the CPU.

Piss off wind bag, I am not incorrect, those temps for a 3rd party coller are too high...check the site!
