| 575887 | 2007-08-03 00:05:00 | Having brought the laptop (Vista Home Premium) on holiday it was time to logon to a local wireless hotspot just newly installed in the apartment block. Purchased 2 hours of time logged on for 15 minutes and then logged off. Went to logon latter in the day and the site advises that you have used all of your allocated time. OK to cut a very long story short they advise me that my laptop logged back on by itself several times! If Vista has so much built in security then how is this possible? Is there anywhere in Vista is there a wireless log that can check to see what the hell happened? |

| 575888 | 2007-08-03 00:49:00 | It's standard for a PC to re-connect automatically to a wireless network once it's been disconnected, you'd have to go into the wireless config and remove that network from it's memory, so it doesn't automatically connect, to be really safe. I can't remember exactly how vista is set up, but right click on the wireless adaptor, properties, advanced settings and have a squiz around in there. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 575889 | 2007-08-03 04:51:00 | Does your laptop not have a hardware switch on it to turn the wireless adaptor off? Mine does, on the keyboard. If you switch it off, it can't do this again, and you will also save battery power because wireless adaptors seem to be a real power hog. |
