575460 2007-08-02 06:57:00 It's been twice now, over a period of 3 days. While I'm at school, mum noticed the computer was off. The green power light was on, though. I did not turn the computer off - neither did my mum.

It's happened twice, I'll have to see what happens during the week.

It's only happened when I'm at school. Coincidence?

Any ideas?

Yes, it knew you had gone away and was sulking.

Seriously, as the lights on, its not off, could have gone into standby and stuck there.

575462 2007-08-02 07:38:00 Power light was on, but LEDs and fans were also off. Deadly silent.

The PC is not set to standby either.

575463 2007-08-02 07:39:00 The power may have gone off briefly. This happens. Sometimes it happens often. ;) Graham L (2)

I hope that's the case. Would be a pain in the butt for me having to track down and fix/replace the damn culprit.

This hardware addiction comes at a heavy price, mate. Don't get into it if you can. :p

575467 2007-08-02 08:51:00 I had a similar thing a few months back. I could be using the PC and randomly it would switch off and instantly restart, could happen once or twice a day.
Changed the PC power plug into a different socket on the powerboard and that cured the problem. Still looking for a good replacement powerboard for a reasonable price.

575469 2007-08-02 09:00:00 Yeah my vote goes for a really good quality power board also, had this problem a month or so ago after we had experienced a lot of power outages. May have damaged the board and when I replaced it I haven't experienced another failure, although at the same time I did a major anti virus, spyware + trojan check and i can't be sure that this didn't fix the problem. limepile (96)
