| 575189 | 2007-08-01 22:58:00 | Have a Vista machine that I can't add users to. It lets me create a new user but when you try to log in as that user you get "Your user profile was not loaded correctly" message and it creates a temporary one that it doesn't save. Anyone else had this problem or is it reload the OS? Cheers Sam |

| 575190 | 2007-08-05 00:36:00 | I am having similar problems - turned vista laptop on yesterday and got same message (I have only one profile) now stuck with temporary profile and cannot access my files!!! Any suggestions? This seems to be a big problem with many postings on computer fourms with very few answers. Is this a problem that Microsoft need to address?? | colsa546 (12475) | ||
| 575191 | 2007-08-05 05:41:00 | This is the fix from Microsofts Tech Site - Don't know if they work until ya try I spose (Quote) Create a new profile for yourself in the control panel/Users and log into it. Chances are good that the default profile is corrupt and you will not be able to recover it. If you continue to use the temporary one, you will continue to lose any settings and preferences you create. Also found this on Microsofts site - 1. Restart your PC to release the locks on your profile. 2. Log on with another administrative account 3. Delete C:\Users\%username% 4. Delete C:\Users\TEMP 5. Delete the registry key matching your SID from "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList". Check the value "ProfileImagePath" to make sure you pick your own profile. 6. Restart once again and then you're done! |
