| 575594 | 2007-08-03 03:50:00 | Totally agree with shortcircuit, I've seen some so called "professional " web sites that look rubbish , or are almost impossible to navigate around. ( just my 2 cent worth) :2cents: It's just as bad when a web designer with a few degrees charges accordingly for a site that looks crap... or even worse talks a client into a 'Flash' site- the guys should be hung drawn and quartered. I've seen a few good amateur sites done with programs like Nvu... I've also seen a few 'commercial' sites done like a dog's breakfast. lol. The clients have the last say, and often can suggest some funky changes... A finished website wont always be the full work of the designer. The client will often go in the back end and totally change everything after the design is finished and make it look like spaghetti. Design is subjective. Having a site that looks amateurish isn't, a client looking for business will tell you that. |

The same scary stuff happens with clients on print jobs too especially when they have their own "ideas" that differ somewhat from your own design orientated approach. |

Thanks Kjaada, yes we were just wanting to have a play! But I enjoy the way threads can evolve. My son (13) is doing marketing and design at school and has some stuff on You Tube. He seems interested in having a go at doing a web page or two, and I'm going to encourage him. If we are ever brave enough to have a go, I promise I won't tell the forum what the address is!! Thanks for the leads though everyone. Will have a look at them. Grimy. |
