| 576184 | 2007-08-03 10:27:00 | Writing in sentences and paragraphs might help. One paragraph per question, plus capital letters to show where sentences start, and a full stop to show where they end will make it easier to follow what you are on about. Not being rude, but if people have to try and decipher what you write, they are just as likely to skip on to the next thread and forget about you. Help us to help you. Then again, you could get lucky. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 576186 | 2007-08-03 10:47:00 | Vista can partition your HDD. Just put the disc in and read carefully. There will be an option to partition your HDD. As for your RAM heatspreader problem - sounds like it actually heats up your RAM instead of cooling it. Cheapo RAM heatspreaders actually traps the heat in instead of dissipating it. Regarding your friend's PC - the amount of case fans you have will not necessarily insure your PC from overheating. Temp 2 is for what? I'm not quite sure. Sounds like the CPU. Try opening up the case and clean the CPU heatsink from dust build-up. |

| 576188 | 2007-08-03 19:56:00 | there is a reason i apoloagized in advance, cause i never really was good at learnin english with all the commas and punctuations and all that other crap:( . 1.I bought a heatspreader for my ram but it actually made my pc not turn on when it was installed, i after i took off the heatspreader my pc worked fine again, could i have installed it wrong? 2.I want to intall a partion and linux on my second hdd wich already has vista installed on it, can i do this without reformatting? 3.my friends pc overheats on him, whenever i open up an application i see his temp2 shoot up even thought he has all sorts of fans installed, i told him it could be his ram but im not sure my self as the temp shoots up whenever he starts an application of anykind, he had to remove the side panel and put a fan next to his pc cause of this or else he wouldnt get anything done and the pc would shutoff. and thanks for your responses they helped me a lot. |

Answer for 1 ... Why do you require heat spreader? My be easier and more effective to install another fan Answer for 2 ... Most/all Linux distro install cds (and some live cds) will allow you to format your harddrive. I would however acquire a seperate harddrive to install linux to. Some people have lost all their data because they screwed up the install during the formatting phase (note: user error, NOT linux's fault). Backup all your data before doing anything. Answer for 3 ... sounds like your friend may have to ease up the overclock, or buy a better cooler/heatsink |
