576165 2007-08-03 08:19:00 I am resposible for the IT at our company and have an arrangement with an out of town company for maintence of our Microfoft Small Business Server. I would like to be able to carry out simple tasks such as setting up new email accounts and users without the need to be at the mercy of this service company, and encurring costs enough to buy a ,kidney & a heart'
I have trolled websites to seek this info but have not had any luck with any helpful info detailing the steps to take. I am reasonbly IT literate but would like clear directions in attempting tasks such as this as there is a lot at stake!!
Any direction would be appreciated
:help:

You're kidding. And how did you get to be the IT guru then?

576170 2007-08-03 09:27:00 Mockery aside..I don't profess to be an IT expert, thus my post! IT forms one of my many responsibilties as it is not economic to have a devoted IT person in a relatively small company. I am expected to engage the services of IT techs to do such work as Server maintenance, but as our company has a relationship with an out of town computer company who installed the server, it can ofter be frustrating when a urgent task such as the one I refer to is needed and we have to wait for a response.
If you can not give positive answers and pretend to be smart......'s dont bother replying. I thought this forum operated to provide help where it is needed!

576171 2007-08-03 09:31:00 You could possibly try listing your requests one at a time and I am sure the site members could offer assistance. winmacguy (3367)
576172 2007-08-03 09:42:00 Small Business to Small Business advice aside, you may well have expected some form of 'system administrator manual' from the company that setup your network. that you can follow, however with so much at stake, do you feel your knowledge & experience is enough to protect your network from now on? 576173 2007-08-03 09:53:00 Thanks SolMiester...the main reason we engage help is adding/changing email accounts. The IT company would still do daily monitoring of the server. It was only tasks such as that I was enquiring about to see if anyone knew of a source of information. Sounded too easy?!
Perhaps as you say, I would be better to ask for an 'Administrator Manual' to be supplied.

576174 2007-08-03 11:11:00 If it is running Small Business Server 2003 then it's easy as.
Just run the wizards to do anything.
