577181 2007-08-07 02:49:00 I got so disgusted with my HP IPAQ, that I have not even charged it in over a year...and I don't care if it ever works again. SurferJoe46 (51)

If you have any recommendations, could you also note if they are both PC and Mac compatible or just PC. Much appreciated :D

Thanks

Any PDA should be able to sync with both PC and Mac without too much fuss.

Yes, sorry, I missed out responding to that part of Princess' question. I was originally a Mac user and had no probs synching the Palm OS devices I had then with my Mac. Ditto now I have been forced over to the dark side (PC).

577185 2007-08-07 05:31:00 If you have to make a choice between the Palm Treo 600 and Treo 650 I would recommend the 650 - I've had both, currently running the 650. The 650 has better phone sound quality (than the 600 - see 1st comments above by John H), better screen resolution, better preinstalled apps, video capability (not cam quality, but OK for a quickie), removable/replaceable battery, better battery life and better keyboard than the 600. johcar (6283)

I have to go find it and see . . but I hated the Windows OPSYS and the short short battery life . . even with the piggyback battery on it .

It's just a power gobbler .

I even have a fold up keyboard and external power supply and the hot shoes for it with the USB2 . 0 connex . . but I find it clumsy . . . too fat . . . too user unfriendly and basically just Windows in a strange format .

577189 2007-08-07 21:09:00 :waughh: um...not to add more debate - but which is the better network for a Pocket PC i.e. Vodafone or Telecom?

I realise that Voda has SIM cards, but is it possible to transfer your pda from one network to the other?

:p

:pThe provider choice will come down to the plan you are offered (or choose) and how it best suits your calling patterns . I believe Telecom still have a better coverage throughout NZ and data speeds are better on Telecom (I'll be flamed if I've got these wrong!! :D ) . However Palm OS devices can't take advantage of the 3G speeds, if you're still looking at these, so the issue may be moot .

There is phone number portability these days (although there are $$ hooks in this), so if you want the best of both worlds, go with Vodaphone and the SIM card - at least you can use it overseas if and when necessary .

My Telecom Treo 650 is limited to a handful of countries, and will soon be obsolete in Australia because I understand they are shutting down the CDMA network there - as Telecom plan to do here eventually, so the SIM version will have greater residual value when you come to trade up next time .
