577137 2007-08-06 08:59:00 Recently installed a new dial-up modem. All went well except now it randomly goes on-line by itself. How do I go about tracking down whatever is making it dial by itself? (Running WinXP home, regularly scanned using NAV,Ad-aware and SpyBot) flyge1 (12634)
577138 2007-08-06 09:06:00 You might also want to download HJT from Speedy's signature, run it and post the log file here for a diagnostic. winmacguy (3367)
577139 2007-08-06 09:10:00 It's probably your AV or something trying to update itself. If you have a firewall you can check the logs.

To prevent it happening, go into Internet Explorer's options and enable "Never dial a connection" under the Connections tab.

Have a look in your bios settings, for something called Wake On Ring (WOR), turn this off if its enabled.
Prolly a good idea to do a HijackThis scan too. :2cents:
