577110 2007-08-06 08:30:00 Unbeknownst to me my son has tried to register a new account on a site that allows only one account per IP address. The rules state that behavior like that gets you banned. But i want back in and reckon we can beat this with your help.
Our IP is banned, but talking to slingshot tonight they told me that turning off the router will reset the ip. As it may also be a mac address issue I want to use another computer as you can't change the mac address.
Turning off the router didn't fix it.
Do i have to change the ip of the router?
I've tried annonymouse and that has allowed me to sign up but now i face the problem of the confirmation email as annonymouse won't let me access gmail and forward a reply.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

577111 2007-08-06 08:39:00 Go to www.whatismyip.com and note your IP address.
Turn off your ADSL router and wait 15 minutes. Turn it on and got to whatismyip.com and check you have a change of IP. Clear you browser cache, and delete your cookies.

Then try it.

577113 2007-08-06 09:23:00 You could try tor (http://tor.eff.org/) Myth (110)
577114 2007-08-06 10:05:00 Sites which allow one IP per user generally also ban known proxies, so you may not have any luck going down that road.

Try turning your router off overnight, and hopefully your DHCP lease will have expired by then.

577115 2007-08-06 10:18:00 Tor is impossible to "ban" by blocking known proxies. You can get banned on the likes of IRC (Proxy checks), but not from websites, because ANYBODY can be a Tor exit-node, making it the best solution possible in that respect. You can run any program through Tor with the right know-how ;) Chilling_Silence (9)

577117 2007-08-06 20:03:00 You could also try emailing the sites admin's and explaining your situation... you never know. Some admin's aren't actually blood sucking demons. ;) EvilWalksWithMe (12215)
