1418343 2016-03-28 00:44:00 Hi all

I have an old trial version of an audio program but i want to try the new version of that software. When i tried to install the latest version of the software it tells me that there is a previous version installed and won't let me install......
I went into regedit and searched for every entry that referenced the software name and deleted them..... nothing left!

Tried to install again and same message, where else should i be looking?

Any ideas would be great, thanks.

Cheers

1418344 2016-03-28 00:58:00 There will be entries everywhere, what you manually find will only be a fraction of them. I would normally use something like Advanced uninstaller Pro or revo Uninstaller in advanced mode which gives the option of removing registry entries as well. If the program is already removed then it makes it a LOT harder.

You can try using the reg tools in Ccleaner, that may find dead entries and remove them , but thenagain may not.

As always make a restore point first in case it all turns to custard.

1418348 2016-03-30 12:30:00 Thanks guys but I can't reinstall the program because it already sees something there..

So until I uninstall everything i won't be able to install either the old or new versions. ....

Might be stuck then!

Thanks anyway.

1418349 2016-03-30 18:32:00 Could try a bigger hammer with Revo Uninstaller Pro www.revouninstaller.com free for 30 days

One of the added features of the pro version is the Forced Uninstall which can search for the remnants of your software that's not listed and delete it

Had no reason to use this feature myself but is worth a go
