1418217 2016-03-26 08:51:00 Reinstalling Win7 Pro 32 bit system to this very old laptop; installation went through OK but when running Windows update, Code 8007000E error pops up.

Have tried the suggestions by wainuitech in the other thread without success.

net stop wuauserv
net stop cryptSvc
net stop bits
ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
net start wuauserv
net start cryptSvc
net start bits
exit

Any other suggestions?

1418218 2016-03-26 12:12:00 Looks like that can mean the server is busy / overloaded. Wait a while then try again Speedy Gonzales (78)

1418222 2016-03-26 21:27:00 Does that laptop support Win7 tho?? Are there drivers for it? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1418223 2016-03-26 22:39:00 I am using the install DVD with SP1.

You may find the update client is now to old so you need to install a newer one manually first, Scroll down the following page and select the right one for your install: ( Method 2) support.microsoft.com

Have a read of this article: windows.microsoft.com

Also make sure your time and date are correct.

Had this happen a few times where it was to far out and updates wouldn't work as the computer was trying to tell MS it was 2035 ( or something like that)

1418224 2016-03-27 06:58:00 The last Windows 7 update I did was in 2010.
Download the correct drivers from the manufacturers. You can always switch on the updates later.

1418225 2016-03-27 08:19:00 Can also try this:
www.microsoft.com
Had to do that on a few machines to get windows updates working.

1418226 2016-03-27 20:28:00 Has MS stopped Win7 support?

No success with the laptop above.

I am running the Win7 update for my dual boot (Win7 & Win10) desktop. My last update was 27/06/2015.

It has been 'Checking for updates' for more than half an hour now and still checking ... or MS is also having their Easter holidays????
